Cakes By David is a family owned and operated business that was established in 1989. Over the past 20 years Cakes By David has become well known from world wide for it's fresh made to order products. We have calls from around the world ordering wedding cakes to be delivered and setup on the east coast beaches. Wedding cake delivery and setup is done in a 100 mile radius from our Salisbury location. A select few cakes are shipped anywhere including APO's and FPO's. 

The business is named for David Wharton, the primary cake artist. Although all family members assist with the business it is David’s' art background (he was an art major at Towson University) that makes his decorating stand out. His background has given him the ability to create masterful works of edible art. 

Barbara Wharton is who will greet you when you come in to the shop. She does an excellent job guiding you through the process of selecting your ideal product and making sure all the details are attended to. Behind the scenes she does the baking as well as assisting David with the decorating. Both David and Barbara are certified in Safe Serve of food. 

The oldest of 3 sons, Yancy, has helped with the technical aspects of the business. From computer consultant to web page design, Yancy has been an instrumental part of the team. Yancy had the idea of bringing photo cakes here to Salisbury. We were the first in the area to offer this product. He continues to keep Cakes By David on the cutting edge of cake decoration and technology. He designs our advertising for T.V., radio, and magazines. 

Jason, the middle son, brings an extra dash of creativity to the cake decorating. He takes after David with the artistic talent! There have been many times when Jason and Dave have hand drawn designs on our cakes. Jason also scans in photos and enhances them for the photo cakes as well as doing some of the routine maintenance on our special printers. He also owns his own vinyl shop. He can offer yard signs and banners for parties. 

Let’s not forget the youngest son, Jordan. He owns Jordan's Giant Cookie Company (a subsidiary of Cakes By David). He also handles most of the internet research when we need a clear picture of a specific item a customer wants on a cake, or to gather background information and/or recipes when we are asked to make something out of the ordinary. Jordan does the scanning and printing for the photo cakes.
All three sons are involved in the business. We all work together as a family to offer the best customer service and top notch product you can be proud of. 

The last additions to the family are Amy Duddy (Jason’s other half) and two children, Keegan and Lavadi Castel. The next generation, Christopher Vance and Jetta Wharton are also Jason’s family. These guys are our Tasters and future bakers/decorators. They have the best job in the business making sure all of our products are in their words: YUMMY!
